On Tuesday night, we were touched and thrilled by the success of our Inaugural Gala. What a night! From the teary presentations by our entrepreneurs and their families, to the after-dinner glow that followed the amazing meal by chefs Gabrielle Hamilton and Traci Des Jardins, to the rousing response to our Fund-A-Need, we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful evening.
The numbers are still coming in but early figures show we raised around $90,000 in one night! That’s nearly as much as we make renting our kitchen out for a whole year, and we didn’t have to do any dishes! For those of you couldn’t make it, we’re sorry we missed you. We hope you’ll not only join us next year, but join us this year in reaching – and surpassing – the magical $100,000 mark by bidding and spreading the word about our amazing online auction, which ends in less than 2 days.
You may recognize some of the names and participating restaurants – Flour + Water, State Bird Provisions, Mission Pie – and there are so many more! Bid now and encourage your friends to join you for the opportunity to enjoy one of a kind in-home dinners from Joanne Weir and La Cocina entrepreneur Dilsa Lugo, A16, Nojo, and Tacolicious; hone your culinary skills with classes from 4505 Meats, The Fatted Calf, and Hapa Ramen; and treat your favorite group of friends to an epic dinner from the deans of the San Francisco Cooking school: Bill Corbett, Daniel Patterson and Craig Stoll. Please spread the word to your family and friends, and think how much more affordable dinner would be, split 10 ways!
While you’re sharing the auction on social media, don’t forget to check out our gala photos on our Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram for continued updates on the amazing entrepreneursin our program. For a quick glimpse, we hope you’ll take a moment to watch this inspiring video featuring two of our over 40 inspiring entrepreneurs: Tamales & Piroshkis: A Journey Stuffed with Love.
Once more, thank you for all your support. We look forward to seeing you snacking on Clairesquares or Kika’s Treats at our kiosk in the Ferry Building, concocting cocktails or making mole at our artisan culinary classes, and of course, eating your way around the world at The 5th Annual San Francisco Street Food Festival this August 17th.
Again, thank you –
