About El Pipila: Lupe has always been fascinated by the flavors of her hometown- Acambaro, Guanajuato. Her culinary knowledge and skills are a family tradition – she learned her passion for cooking from her mother and grandmother, who were well known for their traditional Guanajuatan dishes. After moving to the US, Lupe worked in many taquerías throughout Berkeley, learning the ropes but continued selling to friends and family and dreamed of opening her own restaurant in order to introduce the Bay Area to food from Guanajuato. In 2012, Guadalupe joined La Cocina in order to formalize her business and is well on her way to making the dream a reality!
For real Guanajuato flavor (or to find out what that even means), we recommend trying Lupe’s Sopes de Nopal- a sope filled with cactus and chile negro, unique to the region. Or her Pozole Verde, a chicken stew with homini and tomatillo served with lime, cilantro, radish and crisp tortillas.
Lupe would be thrilled to work with you on a menu for your next catered event or to provide you with breakfast, lunch or dinner dishes.
