Traci Des Jardins wins again for La Cocina

SF ExaminerMay 11, 2011 — Traci Des Jardins may well be on her way to something that she thinks would be “pretty cool … to be the first woman to win the title of Top Chef Master.” Last night, Traci swept the contest, winning $5,000 in the Quickfire Round and $10,000 in the Elimination Round, both donated to the charity of her choice, La Cocina. La Cocina, based in San Francisco’s Mission district, incubates “low-income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses by providing affordable commercial kitchen space, industry-specific technical assistance and access to market opportunities,” with a primary focus on women from communities of color and immigrant communities. Last night’s wins were Traci’s third and fourth, consecutively, bringing the donations seen by the organization so far in the competition to $25,000. Read more.
